Enable AirPlay From iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad to Mac Using AirPlayer [Video]
Recently Erica Sadun has released a jailbreak app called AirVideoEnabler which enables AirPlay using third party apps on Apple TV. Now, once again Sadun has released AirPlayer which is a custom Bonjour AirPlay service that allows your to send video right from your iPhone to your Mac just like you would to the Apple TV using AirVideoEnabler. This brings video enhancements to those who use 27 inch iMac or Cinema display as their TV!
She said about her app:
Behold the development build of AirPlayer — click Read More to see the video. What AirPlayer does is create and advertise a custom Bonjour AirPlay service that pretends to be an Apple TV. Bonjour is Apple’s zero configuration networking solution for allowing devices and applications to communicate with each other over local area networks. When Apple created AirPlay, it basically set up a new way for Apple TV to interact with iOS using Bonjour communications.
Additionally, no jailbreak is required for this App. All you need to do is to install AirPlayer on your Mac and make sure that your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad are running on iOS 4.2.1. Although a jailbreak would be required for AirVideoEnabler.
Download AirPlayer for Mac from Erica’s website.
