Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg officially announced the 500 million milestone of facebook completed this wednesday. The milestone started in his university dormed room back in Febuary 2004.
The much expected milestone comes amid legal questions over ownership of the firm and a recent consumer survey that showed users aren’t thrilled with the Web site they’ve flocked to in recent years.
In a blog post on facebook, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg thanked all of his users for using facebook actively around the world. He said “I want to thank you for being part of making Facebook what it is today and for spreading it around the world.” he also added: “Our mission at Facebook is to help make the world more open and connected. Stories like these are examples of that mission and are both humbling and inspiring. I could have never imagined all of the ways people would use Facebook when we were getting started 6 years ago.”
Morever, Zuckerberg predicts the facebook will hit 1 billion milestone very soon, at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, he argued that it is “almost a guarantee that it will happen”.
To show his appreciation, all of the staff members of Facebook have put together a photo album with a message of thanks. Please check the video:
